Fatted Calf 2nd Anniversary!
With several members of the Blue Bottle Coffee Company in attendance last Sunday, Fatted Calf celebrated two years of preparing some of best meat in the Bay Area by making a ton of Paella and getting everyone drunk!
It goes a little something like this:
First, brown your Paella Sausage.

Set the Sausage aside and then fry the rice in the fat before adding a stock of duck and guinea hen with saffron and whole load of aromatics.

Meanwhile roast your peppers. And we all know that you can't just get good peppers anywhere.

Add all this together and make your guests scream in anticipation.

Cook up some local shellfish, in this case mussels.

Then mix together so as to be quickly devoured by the hungry masses.

This feast was followed by an eagerly awaited serving of crepinettes.
Thanks and congratulations to Taylor and Toponia for all the great eats. Hopefully they got to enjoy their own party.

Hey there,
How come you are always prepared to take photos on every occasion. It's 9:30 in the morning here in Athens but I'm already hungry now that I've seen this photos.
Really like your site. Nice photos, short descriptions and lots of coffee!
Since you are pros could you please tell me your opinion on starbucks? I really like their coffees but people who live in the US (and are friends of mine) tell me that starbuck is not considered anything special and that none prefers their coffees. What do you think?
Keep on the good work and fun!

Give me a break. It's just unfair to make the rest of us look at that. The duck and guinea hen stock w/safron is a very nice touch. How much per gram do they sell that stuff for?
And thanks for the tip about the ham and cheese croisants at Tartine. I had to wait in line for a half hour, but it was worth it. Those things are awesome.

That looks like an excellent meal.
Your photos are wonderful, by the way. I was looking through your site. Your espresso looks even more wonderful.
Looks like you should teach me everything you know about espresso so that my espresso can be as wonderful one day too.
